Around 95% of the lampshades I've created since 2010 are for people I've never met in person. Most of my clients have made their decision to buy a ready-made piece, or place a bespoke order, based solely on photos they've seen online.
And even though I should be used to it by now, believe it or not, I still get nervous when I send off a piece to it's new home. In fact, I usually experience a wave of mild panic as I'm packing the box...
"Are they going to love this piece in person as much as the photos?"
Sounds silly but I don't mind admitting it.
So you can imagine how lovely it is when I receive positive feedback?
Firstly it's a rush of relief "Phew! They don't hate it!! Yipeeeeee" and then I get all the warm and fuzzy feelings that I've created something that will exist in someone elses home, and it will - literally - light up their life.
So with all this in mind, I have FINALLY started collating the good feedback I've received over the last few years and published it on my Testimonials page. I'm still going through my emails, Facebook and Etsy etc and will be adding more. If I've missed you or you'd like to add one in, feel free to drop me a line. It's never too late to jump on the Good Feedback Train!
I encourage you all to extend that positive feedback to other makers out there who may have hand-crafted something for you. Some jewelry? A crocheted beanie? Screen printed cushion? Maybe you scored personalised cufflinks? Whatever your handcrafted item, spread a little sugar and let 'em know how much you love it!
Really my Testimonials page is an acknowledgement to my lovely clients who made the effort to contact me with such fantastic encouragement.
It's more motivating that you will ever know. Corny but true...
